From the day he was born Awatere Lexington seemed, to us anyway, to have that special look. Density, fineness, lustre, absence of colour contamination, fleece structure all made this boy look like the total package. Would the judges agree?
Imagine our excitement when our aspiration turned to reality at the Canterbury A&P show in 2015 when respected Australian judge Jenny Jackson awarded this special junior male alpaca Supreme Champion.
A fortnight later that decision was echoed when judge Molly Gardner also awarded Supreme Champion to Awatere Lexington at the 2015 South Canterbury show at Waimate.
In January 2017 judged by Diane Marks, at the Banks Peninsula Alpaca Fleece Only show, Lexington was again awarded Supreme Champion for his second fleece with a score of 89.5. He has a great career ahead of him.
Lexington will be certified for stud services in early autumn and we are excited to see what he will pass on to his next generation.
